"Don't yield - back SHIELD!" 

SHIELD InsigniaS.H.I.E.L.D. stands for Strategic Homeland Intervention & Logistics Division , and appears to have jurisdiction over all super-powered threats to national security. Headed by General Nick Fury, S.H.I.E.L.D. is based aboard the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier, a giant airborne mobile fortress.

S.H.I.E.L.D. agents use advanced technology, such as the Mandroid battle suits, and employ several super-powered special operatives, such as Mockingbird and the Black Widow.

 

Nick Fury has disappeared, leaving Maria Hill as the acting Director of SHIELD.
