BANK, BANK, YOU'RE DEAD (Part One)

The NYPD van speeds along the streets of Manhatten at breakneck pace, closing to where the NYPD have already attempted to set up a containment perimeter, led by Sgt. "Crackshot" Watson. The police are under heavy fire from the bank robbers (who wear a dark green uniform), and led by two people in seven-foot-tall armored battlesuits. The first one seems to be a walking armory, with a Vulcan machine gun attached to his right arm and other weaponry bristling from this left arm. The other battlesuit is purple, and as the Avengers disembark their vehicle just beyond the shuttlecraft they see it toss a stream of electrical bolts at one of the barricade - the electrical force enters the bodies of the police huddled behind it, avoiding the automatic weapons fire of the thugs and the Vulcan cannon of the first battlesuit-clad villain. Crackshot appears briefly over her police sedan, and snaps off three shots - the first shatters the mechanism of one of the thug's machine gun, the second flattens on his body armor, and the third finds its mark in the jointing at his left shoulder, penetrating the weak spot and spinning the wounded thug to the ground in agony. It appears that Crackshot is well-named...

The Black Knight quickly devises a plan "Thor, being god of lighting, should go for the electricity-wielding armored villain. Zemo can fly over take out the regular thugs, maybe blast 'em, maybe ensnare 'em. I will lift up the hovercar and hurl it at the other armored villain, and I will run behind it to slice him up with my sword! Anybody got any better ideas?

Zemo looks at the Knight and smirks behind his mask. "Zemo will not be shunted off to fight lowlifes the police can handle."

Zemo looks at Thor. "Lush, do what the Knight has asked of you. He is correct that you are the best suited for that task."

The Baron then turns back to the Knight. "As long as you don't get in my way, I don't see any reason we can't polish this beggar off quickly and then help the police mop up the trash."

"All right, Jerry, you play it the way you need to, just don't get in the way of the flying hover car!" responds the Black Knight.

Ohm Thor looks at the big metal man with the glowing hands. He has made a legendary career out of taking down big mean foes, but that was a long time ago with a steadier hand and a big thundering hammer. Still, his comrades have placed a lot of faith in him to think he can stand alone against this monster. He mustn't let them down. Maybe he can at least keep this thing's attention long enough to give them a shot at beating the other hulking metal man. maybe he can stay alive that long. Thor thinks for a moment about fancy tactics; hurling things from a distance, using makeshift arms to hold him at bay, calling up spirits to overload his crackling electric armor... Thor thinks about it for an instant and then roars loudly and madly charges his armored adversary at full speed. The saliva frothing from his mouth catches the edge of his red beard and streams past his cheeks like dancing flames. His bulging red head looks as if it were about to burst above his slightly ill-fitting dark suit which is beginning to untuck and saturate with sweat. Hitting big guys hard and low, that's the way to knock them down-- unless they just stand there grinning at you.

"You think you're tough in your tuxedo, Fancy Pants? Face the searing power of Ohm!" cries the electrical evildoer, and he sends a searing bolt of power towards the Thunder God.

The torrent of electical power cascades over the Thunder-God, but rather than stop him, it almost seems to refresh him even as his tuxedo begins to smoulder in spots. Thor hits Ohm with the force of a runaway train - a good analogy, considering the almost-berserk fury which passes across Thor's face as he relentlessly hammers away at Ohm's battlesuit with his fists. Sparks fly as the sheer animal force of his fists dent and compress steel battle armor, eventually driving the armor plates into the delicate circuitry. With one powerful shudder, Thor feels the death-throes of the armor suit, so much like that of a human foe.

Meanwhile, as the Black Knight nears the robber's hover-craft, the pilot frantically begins to lift, trying to escape clutches of the ebony swordsman, but to no avail. As the vehicle and its pilot try desperately to escape, Garrett grabs the hull in his mighty gauntlets, and with a mighty exertion, flips it on its side so that its launch jets add to the velocity as he hurls it towards his foe.

War MachineZemo rockets around the straining Knight and overflies the walking arsenal, and both his palm-blasters emit a torrent of energy as his new Kree-enhanced force-blasters fire. The twin streams of cascading energy rocks the armored robber backwards until his own technology allows him to stabilize, and his right arms wings forward, launching several rocket grenades as his suit-speakers blare with an Irish lilt "Lift arms against War-Machine, bucko? Lets see how you handle a couple of poisoned apples!" They sweep forward and explode around Zemo, the concussions knocking him out of his flight path for a second while he regains control.

A quickly-falling shadow falls across War-Machine, and he turns just in time to see his hover-craft hurtling towards him like a meteor. With a sickening crunch of metal armor meets vehicle, and neither seems happy about it. The vehicle skids to a halt on its side, dragging the War-Machine battle-suit and its unconscious wearer with it. As the armor comes to a stop, it briefly flares up with a small energy discharge, as though a self-destruct sequence had fused every circuit to slag, before settling back down into a smoking ruin.

The other armed robbers look at the ruins of their two leader and their escape vehicle, stunned. Then, almost as one, they disarm themselves and assume a spread-eagled prone position on their faces as New York's Finest come out from behind their positions to take them into custody.

Thor turns from his fallen foeman, still surmounted by his battle-frenzy. The desperation of the situation and the sudden lay of a formidable foe proves too much for Thor's fragile grip on reality. Suddenly he's fighting scores of Jotun charging into Asgard. He picks up the nearest piece of debris...ah, Mjolnir! Back in his grasp again. He begins to swing at the nearest Jotun...but wait...is it indeed a frost giant he faces?

He shakes his head, clearing his vision - those were no jotun or svart alfar, but rather his comrades, Baron Zemo and the Black Knight!

Unnoticed on the rooftop, a small mechanical robot finishes recording the scene as NYPD takes the robbers into custody and gratefully thank our heroes. However, across the Avengers comlink comes an urgent message....
