HERBIE THE SUPER-APE
Secret Identity: None

Personality:

Herbie is torn between his animal nature and his intellect.  He laments
the fact that "ignorance is bliss" and feels that he is forced to live

Herbie
Intelligence: 12A
Agility: 4C
Willpower: 2X
Edge/Hand: 1/3

Skills:

* The Research skill, which the game doesn’t have (but should) is my own creation. It lowers the difficulty rank by one level when Patsy is researching a specific subject or person.

Powers:

None.  However, Herbie is a genius inventor and is capable of coming up
with some jury-rigged device to save the day or some insight into the
potential weaknesses of a given opponent or piece of technology. This is
simulated by performing a special "intellectual inspiration" action in
non-combat situations. The only limit is that Herbie can only come up
with intellectual inspirations related to his Scientific Genius skills.

Equipment:

Comlink

Personal History:

A chimpanzee forced to become the test subject for early space exploration, Herbie was blasted into space by a prototype rocket.  His ship encountered strange radiation and crash-landed on an exotic Pacific island of Molman-ui.  Coincidentally, the volcano god erupted at the same time and began a rampage, thwarted by Herbie using his new-found superior intellect and kit-bashing skills.

Herbie's fame and adoration of the natives were cut short by the arrival of scientists wishing to reclaim Herbie, bringing him back to the United States, where he became an instant celebrity, albeit born of curiosity. He was even given a laboratory at a prestigious University and was contacted to join the superhero team known as the Fantastics.  However, he felt increasinly uncomfortable with the Fantastics and their constant desire for publicity.  He settled into his University work but became embroiled in a plot by villains wishing to recover the Norn Stones.  He aided the enigmatic team of Avengers in stopping the plot and rescuing his fellow University-employee, but the reagents of the school decided that Herbie's presence was too disruptive and his inventions too
impractical to continue supporting him.

Cast aside by the University, Herbie found a new home in an abandoned waterfront warehouse.  Inside, he had complete redesigned it to become a hi-tech, if MacGuyver-ish, wonderland jungle.  He continues his relationship with the Avengers, the only people who seemed to accept him for who he was, although he can't shake the feeling that there is still something out there, watching him closely.
