MESS IN NUEVA MESA part I

With the willingness of Rick Jones, Patsy Walker knows that this is an easy spell to cast. Patsy calmy sets the rune in place and whispers the incantation, ignoring the uncomfortable shuffling of the others nearby. Almost immediately, the image of the woman who contacted Rick forms in Patsy's mind. With a sigh to bring her out of her reverie, Patsy winces: "Now for the hard part."

Bringing out a new runestone, the red-head concentrates with more determination, casting out her mental energies. Slowly, another image forms in her mind. The woman who contacted Rick comes into her mind's eye-- the woman is sleeping, restlessly, in a motel bed. It's vague, but there appear to be other bodies sleeping nearby, in some non-descript hotel room. The image is weak, and the exact distance is unknown, but the woman is definately in the city, deeper downtown, close to the original hotel that Rick was most recently at. Fire-Ant alights upon the window sill of Hellcat's outer office, and prepares to leave the group to contact the Fantastics in order to fill them in on what has been happening. Before he leaves, however, he turns to the group, and speaks in his faux-Bogart voice:

"Well, partners, it seems we are about to embark on a dangerous mission-- one vital to the survival of this very planet. I know a lot of us have seem to have gotton off on the wrong foot... heck, we've been stepping on each others' toes ever since those Space Phantoms made us stumble together. But that was their mistake! For only by pulling together are we going to stop these... these Kree from invading our homes. My mom and poppa were involved in World War II, but that was a time when the world needed Invaders. Nowadays, we need to STOP such invasion. They've crossed us so far, but now, we are the Avengers that will take back what is rightfully ours!"

"Righto, old chap! Avengers, that's a bloody fabulous name for this lot!" commented the Black Knight.

Fire-Ant looks at Hellcat and Rick, "Now, I know you're concerned about this lady following you, Rick, but as the young lady proved, she's not a bother right now. I'm going to warn the Fantastics, but there's no telling what I'll find or run up against. THere's no need in further dividing our forces if we are to take down these Phantoms! Good luck, you guys-- I'll see ya in Mesa Nueva!"

With that, the half-foot tall man leaps from the window and a trail of fire disappears into the early morning night.

A yawn from outside the hallway belies Thor's crumpled body on the side of the hall. Obviously, even great amounts of coffee cannot keep the large man from the sleep you all have been missing, even tho it seems he had tried to head... home?... before the weariness overcame him.

Venom stifles a yawn of her own, more out of reflex than actual sleepiness, "so... ah.... I guess we go there? I mean, like....how?"

The Black Knight stirs, and his accent changes once more. "Verily it doth seem that several of the weaker members of our assemblage are in need of rest, I propose we retire to our individual domiciles to rest until we shall reassemble this eve back here to arrange for travel to this Mesa Nueva. In sooth, even I could use some time to meditate and recite my prayers to cleanse the spirit. So, on the evening shall it be?" He looks around at the assembled heroes, "You know the night time is the right time..."

"Agreed. I prefer to work at night. I'm a little...uh...sensitive to the sunlight you might say." adds the Mook Knight.

"Lets assemble here tomorrow night, then" supplies Rick quietly. "The sooner we dig the invaders from Nueva Mesa, the better. We may not have any more time than that..."
