Hellcat watches over the figure of Rick Jones. She is wordlessly joined by Venom and Wonder Boy. Even Baron Zemo swoops down to help Rick up as he recovers. Rick's body seems not seriously hurt, considering, although he is racked with pain and dizziness.
With his last ounce of strenght, Black Knight slowly climbs the now-inanimate HULC automaton. Thor strains and kicks against the robotic fingers that cocoon him. The Black Knight soon reaches the HULC fist, and begins to slash between the coils of metal that make up the hand. Moon KNight does his best from ground level to shout support, and lets loose a light blast at the same area the Black Knight is focusing on. With a mighty grunt at the same time, Thor manages to bust free of the HULC's grasp, sending large fragments of metal fingers, the Black Knight, and himself all tumbling to the ground. Thor and Black Knight fall unceremoniously in front of Moon Knight, Thor landing with a magnificent bellyflop.
0 Some pleasantries and explanations are made with Fire-Ant and the Fantasitcs. Hearty handshakes are given all around.
Rick suggests scavenging any equipment, weapons, supplies, vehicles, etc. which might be able to be used for the heroes' advantage... (never want to be caught going into battle on a rented bus - its been done, after all). The Fantastics don't really want anything-- they don't seem to know what to do with it all (although Herbie the SuperApe seemed interested in some of the equipment that may have been used for space-faring.) Baron Zemo walks around the room, intently canvassing the area. He seemed to have paused at one point, bending over to look at something more carefully... but when he straightened he continued his survey of the area.
"Everything else we should destroy - and specifically we shouldn't allow anything to fall into the hands of the government conspiracy which is probably inbound at this very minute." Rick comments.
"Well, unless Mr. Fantastic here has some sort of disintegration ray, I don't see how we're going to destroy or dispose of all this. Anyway we can cave this place in?" asks Hellcat.
Thor sinks to his knees. He places his hands on the ground in front of him. He begins to mumble and chant in a strange and indecipherable tongue. He appears to be having a drunken argument with himself. Then dust and bits of crumbled rock begin to rise and swirl about Thor like a miniature tornado. Then all is quiet.
After several minutes Thor opens his eyes and stands. "We can leave now friends," he says, "everything will be taken care of. I haf arranged for all that is here to be buried deep within the Earth where man vill never find it."
The assembled heroes don't quite know what to make of Thor's announcement, but Venom takes the lead in smiling at Thor with an affirming nod. Like some strange funeral procession, the heroes make their way out of the cavern and across a field of desert that had served as a battle ground between the Fantastics and the Kree, Once the last hero had set foot upon a paved area around the outskirts of the town proper, the ground began to move.
In a cataclysmic cacophony, the Kree's mesa base and desert battlefield became swept up in a massive and sudden sandstorm! A tidal wave of earth and wind swelled to a blinding fury before crashing in upon itself with the force of a bomb blast, sending wind and particles of sand blasting the heroes witnessing the spectacle! And just as suddenly, the entire landscape was changed into a flat plain.
"Oh, jeez," Wonder Boy remarks, breaking everyone from their momentary reverie. "I gotta get home!" The kid had remained nervous and increasingly unsure of himself as the night wore on. He had dreamed of the night in which he could dash into battle alongside other Marvels, saving the world from evil. He had gotton that wish but found that it landed him into a horrible and painful war. The youth hurries down the paved road into town, soon disappearing from view.
"Yes!" shouts Mr. Fantastic, in a bombastic voice wholly unsuited for this quiet scene. "The lad speaks true. For where we have vanquised one foe, surely others will arise. We thank you, Avengers, for the opportunity to fight alongside such valiant and formidable allies! If only everyone could use their talents and abilities for good, instead of evil!"
"Yeah!" affirms Rainbow Girl.
"So let us strike forth!" continues Mr. Fantastic. "The wings of the Fanta-Plane shall carry us all back to Our Fair City! For the dawn will soon bathe this hemisphere, and its happy people can continue their daily routine, blissfully unaware of the danger they have just escaped, and the danger that may threaten them again!" he dramatically swished his circus-colored cape. "Herbie! The Fanta-Plane, if you will!"
With a drawn-out grunt sounding suspiciously like a sigh, Herbie the Super-Ape shuffles off to retrieve the Fanta-Plane.
Venom turns to Hellcat as Mr. Fantastic continues congratulating himself and his comrades. She explains that she may not be able to see Hellcat again, but she will leave a phone number so they might remain in contact in the future. Hellcat gratiously accepts the offer, but the corner of her eye is fixed on Baron Zemo. Hellcat wasn't able to see what it was Baron Zemo had looked at so intently within the Kree cavern, as Zemo had straightened with empty hands once she had manuevered in a position to look over his shoulder.
