The first appearances of Captain America in a Marvel Comics-based novel were in 1967/1968, when Otto Binder wrote the novel "The Avengers Battle the Earth Wrecker". This book featured the "Cap's Kooky Quartet"-era of Captain America, Goliath; Hawkeye; Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch.
This was shortly followed by "Captain America: The Great Gold Steal" by Ted White. Note the clever prognostication of Captain America using a gun, many years in advance of the Winter Soldier, and a Wolverine-like plating of his bones with stainless steel!
These would remain the sole novels featuring winghead until 1979, when Pocket Books would publish "Captain America: Holocaust for Hire" by Joseph Silva, "The Avengers: The Man Who Stole Tomorrow" by David Michelinie, and the Avengers short story "This Evil Undying" by Jim Shooter in the anthology title "The Marvel Superheroes".
In 1998, BP Books would publish "Liberty's Torch", by Tony Isabella and Bob Ingersoll. Mike Zeck did the internal illustrations for the beginnings of the chapters, and the cover was done by Steranko. This was followed by "The Avengers & The Thunderbolts" by Pierce Askegren, which tied in to the Avengers/T-Bolts meeting in Avengers Vol. 3 #12. In 1999 there was an Avengers/X-Men trilogy, wioth covers by Boris Vallejo. These were Book 1: Lost and Found, Book 2: Search and Rescue, and Book 3: Friend or Foe.
Cap also guest starred in "Iron Man: Operation A.I.M.", also by Greg Cox.
